On Monday 9 April 2018, The Teachers’ Guild of New South Wales welcomed expert panellists from a variety of backgrounds, schools and perspectives, for a Leadership Panel Forum on “How do we reinvent education? How can we build better Schools together?”

Dr Linda O’Brien AM is the principal at Granville Boys High since 2008 and is passionate about the great value of an arts education for young people. She has completed a Doctorate of Education at University of Western Sydney about the ways in which a music and dance program can build social cohesion in a school. The success of these programs at the school have transformed the lives of many of the students at her school.
Darren Cox is currently Principal of St Philip’s Christian College Cessnock, an innovative school situated on 100 acres in the Hunter Valley. Darren is a confident and inspiring leader who has been involved in education for over 25 years. Darren is a passionate and innovative leader who has created a successful culture of professional learning and leadership development.
Dr Paul Burgis is the Principal at the Presbyterian Ladies College (PLC) Sydney. Dr Paul Burgis, joined PLC Sydney in 2011 as its 13th principal. Dr Burgis takes seriously in developing an inclusive and proactive atmosphere that he feels is important in fostering harmony within the school. Paul enjoys being a principal in leading a committed staff of teachers and a tremendous group of students.
Linda McNeil has worked in Catholic education for a decade and a half, firstly in the Maitland-Newcastle Schools Office and now as the Executive Director of the Council of Catholic School Parents. Throughout this work, it has been Linda’s aim to promote the partnership between parents, schools and community. Linda is a seasoned workshop facilitator for school staff, parents and community members and has presented at conferences both nationally and internationally.
The moderator for the evening included Kathryn Taylor, the Director of Turning Point Consulting, a Centre of Excellence in Leadership, Change & Wellbeing, Board member of Wellbeing Australia, expert in Education and Wellbeing for ACPi and member of the Global Career Council with ICCI. With over 18 years’ experience in education and corporate, in human resources, leadership, organisational change, talent management, purposeful performance appraisals and individual coaching.
