From the Teachers’ Guild of New South Wales President,
Thank you for attending the recent inaugural VET in Schools Forum hosted by the Teachers’ Guild of NSW, ACE Hills Parramatta and MWLP Linking Youth. Over 170 delegates attended including principals, VET coordinators, teachers, students, work placement providers, training organisations, business and industry.
In a year which has already seen so many changes to this exciting and rapidly growing sector, the need to provide successful VET in Schools professional development programs require collaboration between schools, the training sector and industry.
The organisers would also like to extend our thanks to all presenters and sponsors at the Forum.
Feedback from attendees on the day was very positive with an overwhelming desire for another VET in Schools Forum in 2018. Minister Andrews said: ‘I congratulate the organisers on today’s forum, which I hope will become a regular event on the school calendar and spread to other parts of the country.’ In accordance with this feedback on the day, please Save-the-Date for next year’s VET in Schools Forum to be held on Monday 25 June 2018 at the Trinity Grammar School, Summer Hill.
In addition to the Annual event, Teachers Guild of NSW and MWLP will be facilitating VET Professional Clusters to foster continuing professional development and provide networking opportunities for VET teachers in NSW. Notification for these meetings will be on the Teachers’ Guild of NSW website.
MWLP is progressing on the development of the Industry Evidence APP for VET Trainers presented at the Forum. MWLP will shortly be seeking assistance from trainers to test and provide feedback on the APP. Attendees at the Forum will be updated with regard to progress on the APP.
