Welcome
to the Teachers' Guild of New South Wales
The
Guild exists to promote and further the cause of education generally and
to consider all questions affecting the status and interests of the teaching
profession. It takes no part in matters of an industrial nature.
Over
the years the Guild characterised its core value as "The Care of
Education". Without abandoning that essential concern, today the
Guild's logo reads "Doceo ut discam: I teach, that I may learn",
and seeks to express a commitment to continued professional learning
The Guild seeks to
promote its core values and to assist the teaching profession by a range
of activities:
- The maintenance
of professional standards in Education.
- The conduct of
an annual Award to identify and reward early career teachers.
- The annual presentation
of an Award recognising a Research-based contribution
to improved classroom practice.
- The annual award
of a Scholarship to a teacher in training.
- Conferences and other opportunities for professional learning or socialising.
- The biennial publication
of our journal The Proceedings of the Teachers' Guild
of New South Wales.
- The administration
of the Gurney Soubeiran Trust, which provides financial assistance
for aged and needy teachers.
Please browse our
website for further information about the Guild.
